Now in its 19th year, Dance for Life has raised nearly $4 million for HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care programs. We are proud to sponsor the following charities in 2010:
AIDS Foundation of Chicago
Our long-time friend and permanent beneficiary, AIDS Foundation of Chicago grants funding for local HIV/AIDS care and prevention programs, advocates for sound AIDS policy and increased public support for AIDS services, and through our Service Providers Council, develops and implements strategies for coordinating AIDS care and prevention services.
Brothers Health Collective
Brothers Health Collective grew out of a concern and desire for innovative and unified community levels of strategies to address the racial and cultural factors that influence the overall health and well-being of African American men, particularly as it relates to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and to access care.
Chicago Child Care Society - Safe Life Program
The Chicago Child Care Society's Safe Life Program is an HIV/AIDS prevention/education and testing program targeted to adolescents.
Centro Romero - HIV/AIDS Outreach and Education Project
Centro Romero’s HIV/AIDS Outreach and Education project has been developed to increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS in the Latino community in the Northside of Chicago. Through Education they give the community the opportunity to access information on the latest facts of HIV and other STD’s.
Dance for Life Fund
The Dance for Life Fund provides small personal assistance grants to members of the Chicago area professional dance community living with a life threatening illness.
Tongabezi Trust School
The Tongabezi Trust School has grown from a pre-school class of 15 children, to a primary school with over 160 students. The school has recently attained charity status and is completely funded on donations. Funding made through Dance for Life will help to fuel their HIV/AIDS school education programs, Community HIV/AIDS outreach festivals and support HIV/AIDS training seminars for all teachers.
Young Women's Empowerment Project
The Young Women’s Empowerment Project offers safe, respectful, free-of-judgment spaces for girls and young women impacted by the sex trade and street economies to recognize their goals, dreams and desires.
